Dear ADA Member,

You have a unique opportunity to elect a stellar candidate to represent you as City Council member in the 33rd District.    Ken Diamondstone, your neighbor, brings experience, commitment, energy, intelligence, enthusiasm and a proven track record of excellence to this task!

Dedicated to community service and progressive reform, Ken is a long-time member of ADA, We’ve endorsed him for his activism in a host of causes: for support of environmentally-friendly initiatives; for standing up to irresponsible development while, simultaneously, creating affordable housing; for effective outreach to the LBGT community and for demonstrating how senior citizens can be productive members of our City and nation. He’s been endorsed as well by the city-wide (Stonewall) LGBT Democrats, League of Humane Voters, Former ACLU Director and Public Advocate Candidate Norman Siegel and Congressman Major Owens, among others.

A leader in the LGBT community, Ken supports marriage equality. As a creator of socially responsible housing, he has provided hundreds of affordable apartments to working families and seniors. He’s been active also in efforts to reduce solid waste, to provide non-polluting electric vehicles to parks and not-for-profits free of charge and continues an outreach program that has served 60,000 meals to people living with HIV/AIDS.  He was among the first to oppose the Atlantic Yards project.

Ken has lived in the 33rd district for more than 38 years. During that time he has served on many boards and supported many causes including Brooklyn Community Board 2, New Yorkers Against the Death Penalty, the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation and the Independent Neighborhood Democrats.

What stands out is the fact that too many citizens are unwilling or unable to fight for their communities. Ken is unafraid and not tired of standing up to those who sacrifice communities for personal gain. A champion of civil rights and equal rights for all, Ken is a role model for young and old to return decision-making and power to residents of the community he loves and serves so well!

Take two friends to the polls with you on September 15, 2009 and vote for  Ken Diamondstone.  Ken can win with your help,

Sincerely,

Marvin Rich,
President
